The Democratic Republic of Congo is again suffering from Ebola. The second round of the epidemic has already claimed 1,803 lives.

According to AFP, the city of Goma, which is the capital of North Kivu state, was the most affected by the deadly disease. In total, almost two thousand people have already died from Ebola since last summer.

Health professionals do not guarantee that new manifestations of the pandemic will not arise. They fear that after overcoming this outbreak, a new one may soon arise. Large cities with high population density and mobility are at risk. This makes it impossible to isolate the patient immediately and it is practically impossible to trace the original source of the plague, as it was possible to do in rural areas.

The report states that a previous case of the pandemic in West Africa killed more than 11,000 people. At that time, the Ebola outbreak was qualified by experts as the highest - the third level. With it, the danger reaches its peak and, according to the rules, an urgent large-scale mobilization of specialists of the World Health Organization (WHO) is necessary.

At that time, NATO provided a significant amount of humanitarian aid as additional response measures.
